Unconditional Love

One of the wisest decisions I ever made in my life was during the most stressful and depressing times. There was a void and I had no hope whatsoever. I was facing murder charges that the court said would result in me doing the rest of my life in prison. The guilt, shame, and fear constricted my hope and I just knew all my dreams were over. While in the county jail, a man by the name of Brett Rutledge looked into my eyes and said, “Jesus loves you.” It took all of my being and strength to hold back the tears, but my heart felt a love and joy that was truly amazing.

Brett asked me if I had accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior. He explained to me who Jesus was, what he did for me and wanted to do. I accepted Jesus Christ into my life that day and have experienced firsthand his power and unconditional love. His love penetrated my soul and once again I had hope and my dreams were alive, but even greater than before. There is nothing greater than Jesus – our sins are forgiven and we will one day live in eternity in Heaven with him. I also know that the Lord sets his prisoners free spiritually and it is not his will that I spend my life in prison. Regardless of what the courts gave me on paper, it’s through my faith in Jesus, who has the true power, that one day in due time I will see the doors open and my physical freedom restored.

Always remember the saying, “The truth shall set you free.” My point exactly. Who is the truth? Christ. Never lose hope and keep your faith, because the Lord always keeps his promises. God bless.
